The mission of this joint research laboratory is to not only lead the research and development on next-generation high-performance computing and data infrastructure but also accelerate co-creation between academia and industries, international research collaboration and regional collaboration. Furthermore, we aim to realize research-development ecosystem that enables sustainable creation of social value as well as the feedback of research achievement to our society.
For the mission, we synergize the advantage of the Cybermedia Center with the NEC corporation. In detail, the Cybermedia center has rich experience and expertise of supercomputing systems as well as R&D achievements on HPC-related technology including high performance networking and their applications. On the other hand, the NEC corporation has leading technologies related to supercomputing as well as R&D achievements on Infra. technologies using AI for creation of social Infrastructure and their applications from their business perspectives. By promoting the research and development of three main research topics on the top of the synergy effect of both organizations, we will work on the nurturing of human resources who take a leadership in academic-industry research co-creation and the formation of academia-industry co-creation community.
